Project goal

The objective is to enhance interactions between content creators, and their audience. Offering a setting where creators can engage unlimitedly with their fans could not only reshape their image in the eyes of fans, but also open a fresh source of revenue for the most committed creators. The principal aim during the development of Subble was to streamline this process and develop a new platform similar to the currently popular social media applications.

Problems

Interviews were conducted with both creators and their fans to gain an in-depth understanding of their expectations of such an app. Recognizing their needs, complaints and choices is fundamental to designing a user-friendly app. Gaining insight from both parties is crucial to properly locate problems.

01 No place for extra content

Creators want to show more of their lives, even their private lives, but they want to make it worthwhile for them. Until now, there was no place for this on the Polish market. The most popular apps such as Instagram did not allow monetization of selected content by marking it as premium content only for selected users.

02 Fake accounts and AI creators

With the evolution of AI technology, discerning between an actual creator and an artificial one is becoming evermore challenging. Not just images, but AI-generated videos and even voice communications are gaining prominence and accessibility. The everyday consumer might be inclined to ascertain whether the creator that has piqued their interest genuinely exists.

03 Complicated payment system

We assume that our community will visit our service mainly through invitations from creators on other social media and will only use the app for creators they already know from other platforms. The payment method must be as simple as possible to avoid causing pain during the first interactions. It also affects creators to simplify all their income and give clear information about possible commissions.

Solutions

01 User friendly platform for exclusive content

Creating a platform for the Polish influencer market that will help larger or smaller creators find ways to improve contact with fans. The app should be as simple as possible and give the impression that users have already been there and everything is in place. A key feature of the service is to give creators a choice of whether they want to create a new way to monetize or whether they want to share everything for free.

02 Veryfing each one content creator

There is no room for cheating service users by creating fake creator accounts. Each content creator will be verified through one of the KYC (Know Your Customer) methods, ensuring that fake accounts are kept to a minimum. In addition, checking already confirmed creators from time to time will also help prevent fake media from being shared. Likewise, helping the audience itself by reporting suspicious accounts will greatly help the service function properly.

03 Simplifying the payment process

Crafting an uncomplicated payment procedure is pivotal to the efficient functioning of the app. Illumination on each phase of the payment process is crucial for earning the confidence of all users. Zero undisclosed charges, no unnecessary steps. Admire that creator? Simply purchase access to their content and relish it.

User personas

Two personas - content creator and normal user - were created following the two most common use cases. Their goals, challenges and thought were defined on the user interviews. They are representing two group users of the app.

App structure

With the application structures defined, it was possible to place all the necessary MVP elements. Based on this, preparing the subsequent user flow was much easier, knowing where each element would take the user.

User Flow

User flow were created for every crucial actions that user will mostly have to do. The goal of flow was to show every possible scenario, and how users might react.

Style guide

A properly designed style guide helps in the future stages of creating a design system and screens. The most important thing was to create a simple, catchy and accessible style guide to provide a sense of professionalism and attention to detail.

Components

A very big role was played by the creation of a comprehensive system design that provides components for every possible screen. The entire system design was based on previously prepared components, but due to the specifics of the project, detailed components were re-designed.

Log in Page

After the first visit, the user must create an account or log in. There is no way to skip this step to increase overall security in the application and reduce the likelihood of bots.

Home Page

For new users, only posts from the official subble.co.uk account and creators' suggestions will appear on the homepage. You can use the filtering option to exclude sponsored or subscribed posts.

Profile Page

The profile page looks delicately different for a normal user and for a content creator. Only post descriptions are visible, while all multimedia is only available through subscriptions. The creator can choose whether the subscription is free or paid.

Becoming Content Creator

Due to technological limitations at the current level, we decided to use an external portal for verification and payment method. This allowed us to save time and focus on other key elements.

Stripe Identity

At this stage in the application's life cycle, we were unable to establish our own identity system, necessitating our selection of Stripe Identity. This solution provides us with all the necessary capabilities for validating community user profiles. Following the MVP launch, we are open to reassessing this choice.

Creating a post

Creation of posts is available only to accounts of verified creators. This allows for fewer fake posts and easier moderation. Key features were the ability to add photos, and to assign to albums.

Content Creator Panel

An important element is displaying all the necessary information related to their activities to creators on the portal. They have to be able to se previous raports, lists of subscribers etc.

Messages

Another activity that creators can profit from is additional content sent directly to fans. This also creates a new relationship between the fan and the creator, which makes the creator more trusting.

Collections & Notifications

Add to collection allows you to save your favorite posts. Notifications are aimed more at creators to keep them up to date with their posts and other activities.

Settings

The settings include all the key elements that require more or less interference. Division into categories, allows for easier navigation and faster finding of the option you are looking for.
